Fucking assholes cut the game off to tell us about some thunder and rain?  Then cut off the trophy presentation?  Cunts

Here was my letter to them:
"Dear idiots,
Thanks for cutting away from the 2008 European Championship to tell us that there might be a thunderstorm.  Thanks again for cutting away from the trophy presentation to tell us again.  This of course was after you had the same warning scroll across the bottom of the screen for half the game.  Also, what idiots do you think are watching that have never dealt with thunder and rain?  This is New England, where this has been happening all week.  Also, when the storm came, it lasted about 20 minutes and then by 7pm the roads were dry and the sun was back like nothing happened.

I wish you had done the same during Game 6 of the Celtics to let the weather man talk to us.

Thanks for hating soccer and ruining my viewing experience you ignorant morons."

So here is the reply I got today:

Thank you for taking the time to contact WCVB-TV/DT Channel 5 regarding
yesterday's weather alerts during the EuroCup Football Final.  We
sincerely apologize for the inopportune timing of the cut-ins and
understand your frustration.  Our intent was to break-in quickly and
efficiently to alert our viewers of Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in the
  region.

The FCC mandates that we broadcast severe weather alerts.  Yesterday we
had 42 individual reports of trees down, flooded roadways and power
outages and our news team made the decision to provide that information
in the interest of public safety.  The storm was moving quickly and had
the potential to do significant damage across the state.

The feedback we received from loyal viewers, such as yourself, has
reinforced the need to broadcast severe weather alerts in a less
  intrusive manner in the future.

  Sincerely,
  News Department

Nice letter, Ed! Very succinct. Wish I began mine with "Dear idiots..."

In my e-mail, I just tried to make them feel as guilty as possible and focused more on the inappropriate timing of the interruption. I wonder how many e-mails they received? Not that it would ever make much difference, but at least we gave someone over there some busy work to deal with Monday morning as their punishment.

Bullshit as to that FCC requirement.  As stated above, no way they break into the NBA Chamionship, the World Series, the Super Bowl, etc.  They'd either do picture in picture, or decide that the weather event wasn't severe enough.

What really pissed me off at the time was not just the obvious not being able to see the game, but the condescending way the weatherman talked to the audience.  "We'll get you back to your precious little soccer game just as soon as I finish telling your parents about a real piece of news."  Bastards.

yes...that was what sent me from being angry to actually complaining "I wanted to tell the real Americans watching by mistake because nobody likes SOCCER in this country, at all, anywhere"

The way he said "the soccer game" was like nails on a chalkboard
